SAGA Studio is a new Danish space architecture company known for its innovative space architecture designs and needed a reliable container manufacturing company.
For their ambitious new project (a training facility simulating a moon base), they needed a Danish partner with expertise in containers. While searching for this, SAGA came across our old Danish website, which still ranks highly in Google.
However, when they clicked on the link to the website, they were greeted with a 404 error page with the funny text “Houston, there’s a problem!” in bold letters .

The SAGA team members were momentarily stunned, then burst out laughing.
The coincidence of a space architecture company encountering such a space-themed error message seemed fateful.
“It’s almost too good to be true,” commented Sebastian Aristoteles, co-founder of SAGA.
Although our website was down, SAGA managed to find our contact information and contacted us.
After a short conversation with our Danish country manager (and a site visit to see the dimensions and quality of our containers), we soon entered into a partnership.
TITAN is donating a 40-foot high cube container to SAGA, in which they will be building the world’s first lunar habitat, a moon base.
INNOVATION IN SPACE EXPLORATION
As a leading supplier of innovative solutions to the container industry, TITAN is proud to support the SAGA project, which contributes to advancing the European Space Agency’s space exploration missions.
The lunar base provides a unique environment for astronaut training, simulating the challenges of future missions to the Moon.
SAGA’s UHAB-2 project will expand humanity’s space capabilities by providing a safe habitat.
It aims to serve as a simulator of the Moon on Earth, facilitating research and astronaut training.
This will advance space technology and advance space exploration, while also contributing to a deeper understanding of our planet.
The three main objectives of the project are:
1. Astronaut training
The base aims to provide a realistic environment for astronaut training.
Space bases, which provide an analog environment, allow us to better understand the physical and psychological challenges astronauts face and prepare astronauts for space travel.2. Technological test bench
UHAB-2 also serves as a testing ground for new tools and technologies, ensuring they are mission-ready.
3. Research
Analog environments, which recreate the conditions of space on Earth, allow for the testing of various devices and concepts, as well as providing a location for research and astronaut training.
SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY
The collaboration with the SAGA team is a clear example of TITAN’s commitment to technological advancement and international cooperation.
Our robust, durable and highly adaptable shipping containers provide the perfect foundation for this groundbreaking project.
The donation of the containers not only demonstrates our corporate social responsibility, but also our commitment to contributing to the scientific community.
We believe that supporting innovation and pushing the boundaries of human knowledge is an important part of our TITAN Impact program .
Project details
SECTION 1
- Design and customization : we provide support to SAGA in the design and customization of the container.
SECTION 2
- Transport and installation : once the containers are ready, TITAN will transport them to ESA’s training facility in Germany.
- Training and research : the lunar base will be used to train ESA astronauts to prepare astronauts for future missions to the Moon, as well as to conduct critical research on how to minimize the amount of lunar dust on a base deployed on the Moon.
WHY DID WE DECIDE TO SUPPORT THIS PROJECT?
SAGA represented something new for us.
It wasn’t so much about supporting a disadvantaged group or community groups, but about exploring the capabilities of our popular 40-foot high cube containers (which have an impressive 27.3 m2 of interior space) and supporting an initiative that could have long-term consequences for all of humanity.
